Dear Ken,
You may be aware that BC Liquor Stores has a long-standing practice of listing single-unit beer in can sizes of 500 ml or more in our stores. While this made sense when it was first implemented, the beer landscape has evolved over the last few years and we have taken this opportunity to revisit this practice. As a result, BC Liquor Stores will now be considering all can sizes, including 473 ml, when determining which single-unit beers to list for sale.
Due to this change, BC Liquor Stores will have an additional invitation for listing applications for SKUs in single format can sizes of less than 500 ml. Applications will be accepted between March 1 and March 31, and it is anticipated that these products will be available on BC Liquor Store shelves in the summer months. In order to make this change as smooth as possible for both the LDB’s Merchandising team and for breweries, preference will be given to product exchanges in similar single formats. However, there will be further opportunities in the future for your members to apply for new 473 ml listings in BC Liquor Stores.
Please feel free to share this information with your members. A BC Liquor Store Invitation with more information on tender specifications will be posted to the LDB’s vendor website, in the “BC Liquor Stores Invitations” section. Please refer to the invitation for more details, including contact information, should you have any questions about this change.
Sincerely,
Michael Procopio
